Hinoki Land Chiang Mai is a tourist attraction that the creator wants to showcase Japanese art, culture and architecture. Hinoki Land Located on an 83-rai area, Hinokiland first opened to the public on October 4, 2018. It was created with the intention of allowing Thai people to experience the beautiful atmosphere of Japan. Hinokiland features various structures, with the large red lantern gate at the entrance, inscribed with Japanese characters meaning “Good Luck.” Beyond the gate, visitors can walk through a tunnel of 88 pairs of Torii gates leading to the Hinoki Castle. The castle, built from Hinoki cypress wood—considered a high-quality and sacred wood in Japan—has four floors. The design of Hinoki Castle was inspired by the Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) in Kyoto.

Activities in Hinoki Land

1. SimulateKaminari Gate

The entrance gate to Hinokiland was inspired by the Kaminarimon gate of Senso-ji Temple, an ancient and important temple in Tokyo. The large red lantern is a prominent feature, reflecting Hinokiland’s intent to showcase traditional Japanese architecture and culture for Thai visitors to experience up close. This gate not only symbolizes the Japanese identity that Hinokiland seeks to convey but also invites tourists to immerse themselves in a memorable cultural experience.

2. Simulate the Torii tunnel

The Torii gate tunnel at Hinokiland is modeled after the Torii gate tunnel at Fushimi Inari Shrine in Japan, a world-famous sacred site. The thousands of red Torii gates lined up in rows symbolize the Japanese belief in deities and good fortune. The color red is believed to protect against evil and represents life. By recreating this Torii gate tunnel, Hinokiland offers Thai visitors an intimate experience of Japan’s unique culture and beliefs.

3. Hinoki Castle

Hinoki Castle It is a simulation of the beauty ofKinkakuji Temple Golden Pavilion orวัดทอง Hinokiland has brought a famous Zen temple from Kyoto to Thailand, inspired by the striking three-story golden building, which stands 12.5 meters tall. The lower floor is a simple white, while the two upper floors are coated with gleaming gold leaf, reflecting beautifully off the water’s surface. This creates an impression for visitors as if they are standing amidst the splendor of the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) in Kyoto.

4. Rent a yukata and walk around Hinoki Land.

At Hinokiland, there is a rental service offering over 1,000 different styles of yukata for visitors to choose from. You can wear the yukata, stroll around, and take beautiful photos in an authentic Japanese setting, with no time limit. Staff members are also available to assist with dressing and hairstyling for free. All the yukata are clean, hygienic, and safe, suitable for people of all ages and genders, whether male or female, children or adults.

In addition to the activities mentioned, Hinokiland Chiang Mai also offers a koi fish feeding experience at the pavilion next to the pond in front of the Hinoki Castle. The location also features Hinoki Cafe for café lovers. Moreover, the various photo spots around the area are just as beautiful, including a flower field, stone pillars, and a lucky cat statue, making it a perfect place for memorable photos.
